After the recent Petya and Mischa ransomware virus attack forms a near variant called Bad Rabbit. It is currently targeting organizations and consumers, mostly in Russia and Ukraine, but is also evident in the United States. The virus is delivered via legitimate websites as an Adobe Flash executable file named “install_flash_player.exe”.  Apple iOS and Android operating systems are not affected by this virus.

Here are a few steps to ensure you are protected from the Bad Rabbit ransomware virus:

  1. Do not install any executable file (.exe) that is automatically downloaded on a website.
  2. Protect yourself by using the latest version of Malwarebytes for Home or Business
  3. Enable Automatic Updates within Windows Update in your control panel.
